So you got a Honda Varadero XL1000 and it is the SD02 version?
Well, all Varaderos that was manufactured between 2001 – 2010 are an SD02.

How does it come out that way, you think?
The SD just stands for where the Honda Varadero XL1000 is produced and has nothing to do with of the three versions that are made.

Manufacturing sites:
Japan SD01 – 1998-2001
Spain SD02 – 2001-2010
Italy SD03 – 2010-2013

This number can also be seen on your VIN Number mounted on the frame.
Where the first three letters tells the production country; VTM = Spain, ZDC = Italy, JPN = Japan

Three different versions are done but there has been minor updates between the model changes aswell. I like to call the versions
MK1, MK2 and MK3 due to that is the way to call it. Make 1 or Marque one can be used f.i

1999:

2000:

New 3D design on stickers with new font. New rear frame and suspension with fairing and saddle. 
Integrated blinker in rear taillight. New dashboard with a ”glovecompartment” Oxygene sensor for lambdaprobe.
New rear gasket exhaust. Key to open saddle placed in rear under tail light

Colors: Winered, Black, Silver. All have black tank

2008:
Fuel Injected 994cc engine with 6 gears. ABS
Colors: Black, Blue/silver, orange with black tank

2009-2010:
Fuel Injected 994cc engine with 6 gears. ABS
